Meet the team

Robin

WWOOF Coordinator

Robin’s connection to WWOOF began as a teenager, growing up on a WWOOF farm in Bass River, Nova Scotia. He has since been a WWOOFer and host, giving him an understanding of the ins and outs of the WWOOF exchange and community. Robin first started working with WWOOF in Spring 2020 as the Social Media Manager, and since then has taken on a variety of other roles and responsibilities with the organisation. Robin has a degree in Public Relations from Mount Saint Vincent University, and ten years of experience working with a variety of social change organisations and non-profits.

Caroline

Translator & French Host Applications

Caroline joined the WWOOF Canada team as a translator in 2014 and has since translated communications, newsletters, the website (not the new version, though; that was translated by the Federation of WWOOF Associations), and more. She has recently taken on the role of helping new French hosts with their application and doing host interviews in French. Caroline has had several organic gardens in the Kootenays, BC, where she lived for 30 years, and the WWOOF mindset resonates deeply with her. She is now back in her native Québec, where she works full-time as a professional translator.

Becky

Executive Director

In the 1980s Becky traveled to Australia where she learned of an exchange of helping hands for room-and-board which resulted in multiple farm visits around Australia over a 9-month period.  These adventures confirmed for her that one day she wanted to own her own land and live as self sufficiently as possible.

She realized her dream when she and her husband bought two acres in the beautiful west Kootenay region of BC over 30 years ago.  Many neighbouring farmers were WWOOF hosts!  Eventually, she came to work for WWOOF Canada and was offered the position as the next coordinator when John, the founder, retired in 2009.

In 2012 Becky joined a team of international WWOOF Coordinators to create the Federation of WWOOF Organisations (FoWO).  She was treasurer from 2013-2020 and volunteers in various committees and as a director since inception. Becky is very proud to be part of a team of lovely humans who together are growing WWOOF, and our next generation of organic farmers.
