Website Feature Update: New Visit Management Tools (and phone number sharing)

We’re excited to announce a new feature that will make it easier for Hosts and WWOOFers to stay organized and connected before upcoming visits – a dedicated Visits page, along with new tools designed to improve communication and visit coordination.

When it launches, you will be able to find the Visit pages on our website by clicking on “Visits” in the top right menu (between “Messages” and “Announcements”). On the app, “Visits”, will become the second option in the bottom menu, taking the place of “WWOOFers”, which will now be found in the “Explore” tab along with “Hosts”.

A New Way to View Upcoming Visits

Until now, confirmed visits have only been accessible through the inbox. Because conversations are organized by the date of the most recent message rather than the actual visit date, it was sometimes difficult to quickly find information about an upcoming stay.

The new Visits page solves this by organizing confirmed visits according to their start date. Members will be able to see all of their upcoming visits in one place, making it much easier to keep track of travel plans and hosting schedules.

Dedicated Visit Summary Pages

Each confirmed visit will also now have its own summary page, bringing together the most important information and actions related to that visit.

From the visit summary page, members will be able to:

  • Send messages to their Host or WWOOFer
  • Call their Host or WWOOFer
  • Get directions
  • Add the visit to their personal calendars
  • Contact their WWOOF organization for assistance

These tools are intended to make visit planning simpler and help reduce confusion around arrivals, scheduling, and communication.

Phone Numbers Will Now Be Shared for Confirmed Visits

As part of this update, phone numbers will automatically become available to Hosts and WWOOFers once a visit has been confirmed through the platform.

In practice, many members already exchange phone numbers during the visit planning process. By making this information available directly within confirmed visits, we hope to make last-minute communication easier and help members stay connected while travelling.

Privacy Controls Remain Available

We recognize that some members may prefer not to share their phone number automatically.

For that reason, a new privacy setting will allow members to disable phone number sharing at any time. When the feature launches, phone number sharing will be enabled by default, but members can change this at any time from their settings.

Check Your Phone Number

To help ensure that Hosts and WWOOFers can reach each other when needed, we recommend reviewing the phone number listed on your profile. Be sure to include the correct country code (for example, +1 for Canada and the United States, +33 for France, or +44 for the United Kingdom). This will help ensure that your contact information works correctly for members travelling from other countries.

Looking Ahead

These new tools are part of an ongoing effort to improve communication and visit management across the WWOOF network. We look forward to continuing to enhance the platform and making it easier for Hosts and WWOOFers to connect, plan visits, and create meaningful experiences together.

We hope you enjoy these new features and welcome your feedback once they are launched.
